Ad Altare Dei Catholic Scouting Award

Dear Scouts and Families,

“A Scout is Reverent.”

Presented here is information on the upcoming Religious Emblem class that will be conducted here at Our Lady of Grace. This is a great opportunity for Catholic scouts to earn the Ad Altare Dei award.

The purpose of the Ad Altare Dei (To the Altar of God) program is to help Catholic Youth of the Roman Rite develop a fully Christian way of life in the faith community. The program is organized into chapters based on the seven Sacraments. The seven Sacraments are a primary means toward spiritual growth.

The most important aspect of the program is that the Scout grows in his spiritual experience of his relationship to God and the Church.

This award is open to any youth of the Roman Catholic Faith who is registered in a BSA Troop or Crew. The program is designed for youth 13-14 years old, but older youth may also use this program. The youth must be an active member of a unit for 6 months, and have completed 6th grade before starting the program.

We will begin with an introduction meeting on July 28th at 1:00pm in the Lourdes room located in the back of Our Lady of Grace Church. Classes are scheduled to run from August to December on the second and fourth Sundays of the month, each following the 11:45am mass. The program ends with a retreat in March, with the awards to be presented at the Scout Sunday mass at the Cathedral in April.

I encourage all eligible scouts to participate and earn this award. If you are interested, please contact me directly at my email address:
